GearCity was developed by me, Eric B Jones, between March 2010 and present day. With serious work (by spending money on it) starting on June 13th 2010.

The Engine, Beardgine, started development on 5/2/2009. Originally the engine was developed for an action combat airship game called: GAU: Gun Airship Unit. This project was eventually canned due to technical and artistic limitations. Thus development shifted to GearCity.

Beardgine was written in C++03, using Ogre3D 1.7.4 (Ogre3D 1.8.1 on OSX) as rendering middleware. Various other libraries were also used in its development.

The first publicly available build of the game was on March 28th, 2013 as Open Beta 1.0. The game would go through 14 Major Open Beta releases before launching on Steam Early Access on May 28th, 2014.

I'll be adding more data to this page in the future. Bit busy now to reminisce over a game I'm still working on! :D
