GearCity
The development of GearCity started in February 2010 and continues into the present day. Serious work (by spending money on it) began on June 13th, 2010.
The Engine, Beardgine, started development on 5/2/2009. Originally, I developed the engine for an action combat airship game called: GAU: Gun Airship Unit. I eventually scrapped this project because of technical and artistic limitations. From that point, I shifted focus to GearCity.
Beardgine was written in C++03, using Ogre3D 1.7.4 (Ogre3D 1.8.1 on OSX) as rendering middleware. I also used several other libraries in its development.
The first publicly available build of the game was Open Beta 1.0, released on March 28th, 2013. The game would go through 14 Major Open Beta releases before launching on Steam Early Access on May 28th, 2014.
Eventually, the engine was ported to 64-bit and updated to C++11 and Ogre3D 1.11.5. The latest version of the engine is Beardgine 2.
I'll be adding more data to this page in the future. Bit busy now to reminisce over a game I'm still working on! :D
